Welcome to the North Carolina Independent Colleges & Universities Library Collaborative!

The NCICU Library Collaborative is a consortium of libraries that have partnered to expand and deepen collaboration among library staff members. The goals of this work will aim to provide planning and learning opportunities that will enable library staff to provide exceptional programs, services, and resources for the users of the participating institutions.

Our mission states that the NCICU Library Collaborative will:
• Share our Libraries’ knowledge and skills
• Build innovative approaches to meet the needs of our users
• Enhance the capacity of our workforce
• Collaborate to strengthen our Libraries

We will use this space to share information about our work, and ideas and concepts related to the initiative.

A number of other NCICU libraries have expressed interest in the project and have the option to opt in to the collaborative at any time. Development of effective deep collaboration among participating NCICU libraries will enable our libraries to leverage the knowledge and skills spread among our institutions.

Organization

The following organizational structure will guide this collaborative.

Executive Committee will:
• Review issues and make proposals to the Steering Committee
• Communicate with NCICU
• Provide leadership for Steering Committee meetings
• Facilitate budget management

Steering Committee will:
• Set strategic direction for the collaborative
• Approve operating procedures
• Oversee budget(s) and grant(s)
• Initiative and oversee activities to advance the collaborative

• Support the participation of their library
• Support the work of the collaborative

Affinity Groups

To support the collaboration efforts of the NCICU Library Collaborative, affinity groups will be organized and mobilized to support collaboration efforts on topics or issues of interest to its members.

Current Affinity Groups:

Reference, Instruction & Outreach
Fosters collaborations among NCICU library staff whose job duties include reference, instruction, and/or outreach.

Assessment/SACSCOC
The Assessment/SACSCOC Affinity Group will provide a peer-to-peer community of practice to support NCICU libraries with assessment for SACSCOC accreditation and reporting through mentorship and conversation.

Technical Systems and Services Group (TSS) (Formerly WorldShare Management – WMS)
The Technical Systems and Services Group is charged with addressing any and all issues related to technical services and systems

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Provides a peer-to-peer community of practice to support NCICU libraries and improve ILL services among our libraries

Library Resources
Members collaborate, sharing ideas and developing best practices for building collections and using library resources effectively

University Archives & Special Collections
Fosters collaborations and community building among NCICU libraries with a focus on archives, records management, and special collections.
