If you or someone you know has received a 2012-13 North Carolina Need-Based Scholarship (NCNBS), please take a moment to thank your legislators for providing this grant.

The North Carolina General Assembly funds the NCNBS grants for North Carolina students attending private/independent colleges and universities in the state. These state grants help thousands of North Carolinians attend college. Legislators also receive thousands of requests for limited state budget dollars each year. Please take a moment to write your state senators and representatives to let them know how important the Need Based Scholarship state grant for private college and university students is to you and your family.

Contacting your state legislators has never been easier. Click the “Take Action” button below, to the following page and simply enter your zip code in the space provided, click “Go!” and follow the prompts. The names of your state senator and state representative will appear along with space to write a short email message to them.

Here are a few talking points you may want to consider:

1. Tell them where you live, so they will know you’re a part of their district.
2. Thank them for past support of the scholarship program for private college students.
3. Tell them where you are enrolled and a little about your situation.
4. Explain what the state grants mean to you and your family.
5. Explain how the grants help you afford college.
